Carlo Ancelotti’s comment about the referee in Real Madrid’s game against Girona could see him banned for two to four games.

After their first loss of the season to Leipzig in the Champions League, Real suffered their first major setback in La Liga when they drew 1-1 with Girona despite fierce complaints from the referee.

It is telling that Carlo Ancelotti spoke about a referee-made penalty against his side after the end of the game and those comments should earn him a heavy bell.

According to Spanish football regulations, any statement on refereeing, whether official by a club or by players and coaches, is prohibited.

Thus, Carlo Ancelotti risks a suspension of two to four games. The Italy coach has been summoned to an apology and is now awaiting the verdict of the relevant authorities.

Last year Jose Luis Gaya was banned for four games after he spoke about the refereeing of the match between Valencia and Osasuna.
