Inigo Martinez is one of Barcelona’s options to face Pique in January
Inigo Martinez is one of the candidates set to replace Pique in January. Barcelona have had a deal on the table with him since last July before summer 2023 and will try to bring him to Barcelona from winter 2023.
THE Gerhard Pique announced that he is retiring from football before the end of the season and Barcelona will replace him in the January transfer window.
Xavi even explained in the press conference that after Pique’s decision, the reinforcement load would fall on the central defence. Mundo Deportivo report in today’s publication (04/11) that one of the options for January is Inigo Martinez.
The Athletic Bilbao defender is under contract until the end of the year and has had a verbal agreement with the Catalans since July. However, it is considering taking on the case from January if both sides find them at the right cost.
The 31-year-old Stopper has been struggling with tendonitis in his left knee and has made eight La Liga appearances so far this season.
