Xavi: “There is no greater talent in the world than Pedri”
Xavi seemed perfectly content after Barcelona’s 4-1 win over Valencia at the Mestalla and didn’t hesitate to tip his hat to Pedri, arguing that there is no player in the world with more prospects than him.
Barcelona clinched a terrific 4-1 win at Mestalla that keeps them on the rails with a final Champions League goal and the press conference that followed showed Pedri was playing in a sea of luck.
The Blaugrana manager said he was absolutely satisfied with the presence of his players in a difficult situation like Valencia’s, while referring specifically to Pedri and devoting dithyrambs to the 19-year-old midfielder.
“We weren’t as bright as we were at some point in the Napoli game, but we were effective. We also showed that we can suffer and persevere.
We leave a difficult home with three points and score fantastic goals.Xavi initially said about the match to add meaningfully by referring to Pedri:
“He controls the rhythm, he doesn’t lose the ball, he plays with both feet, he’s just fantastic. What he does, how he spins, how he changes the rhythm is incredible. He belongs to the top level and he is only 19 years old.
He’s spectacular, there’s no greater talent in the world than him. Makes a difference in the game. He comes in for half an hour and he’s impressive. “He is not an ordinary player, few are like him.”
As for Pierre-Emerick Obameyang, who scored his first goals wearing the Barcelona shirt and found his way into the net twice against Valencia, he pointed out:
“He’s been scoring goals all his career. He’s mature, smart, humble and good-humored. I’m happy with him and I know his two goals will give him confidence.”
