Atletico 2-0 Elche: Felix and Morata scored the hat-trick at the Metropolitano
Atletico defeated Elche 2-0 on La Liga matchday 15, with Felix and Morata scoring in the 56th and 74th minutes respectively. There were three ejections in the game.
Atletico returned its first game to league service after the World Cup break. The Colzoneros prevailed 2-0 to take 27 points and sit 3rd in La Liga at Sothedad +1. In fact, they had eluded victory in three consecutive league games.
The guests were left with ten players at 45 + 1, Verdoux saw the red card straight away. The hosts also lost a player early in the second half, Hermosos suffering two yellow cards in three minutes (50′-53′).
In the 56th minute, Atlético opened the scoring with a header from Felix from close range after a pass by Griezmann. The “Greys” made a second assist in the 74th minute for Morata, who made it 2-0 with a shot from the right side of the box.
Elche finished the game with nine men when Domingos Quina saw a second yellow card in added time.
