Espanyol – Sociedad 2-3: Three points Consolidation in 3rd place
Sociedad confirmed their title as favorites against Espanyol, with the Basques winning 3-2 in Barcelona and four points behind Atletico in the informal battle for third place.
Barcelona and Real are fighting for the title of champions, but a big fight is raging behind them and it’s about which teams will get the other two top 4 tickets to participate in the new Champions League.
In this fight, Sociedad are the winners so far, with the Basques being extremely strong and showing that they can claim not only a place in the top four but also (at least) third place.
The latest confirmation of their dynamism came in Barcelona, where Sociedad beat Espanyol 3-2 on Matchday 21 to return to La Liga success after two straight draws to take them to 42 points at +4 from fourth-placed Atlético and at – 3 to bring from second Real.

According to the German newspaper “Die Welt”, Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the new Champions League due to violations of Financial Fair Play. However, the Catalans are not aware of the specific risk.
