Xavi expressed his desire to continue with Danny Alves at Barcelona and next season but refrained from responding to transfer scenarios linking the Catalans with Killian Ebape and Erling Halland.

Barcelona take on Elche away on Sunday (6/3) with the sole aim of remaining in the top four and the places leading up to the Champions League.

At the pre-match press conference, Xavi was asked about Blaugrana’s transfer plans, first stressing that he would like Xavi to stay at the club after the end of the season when his contract expires.

At the same time, however, he avoided referring to the scripts of Erling Halland and Killian Ebape, still claiming that they were great footballers and that in the Spanish league he would do very well to have them.

“Ebape and Halland are two great players. It would be great to have them in La Liga. Both the league and the clubs they go to are getting better. They will bring more fans to the pitch and that will definitely be one be a good thing.”

We haven’t spoken to Alves but from what he brings to the team in every way he is a role model and we hope we can decide that he will carry on at the end of the season. He gives us a lot and I want him to continue next season because he can give us more.

Xavi also insisted on praising Pedri, again comparing him to Andres Iniesta:When I see Pedri play, he reminds me of Iniesta. “I won’t think differently no matter how much they judge me.”
