Atletico – Betis 1: 0: Correa chased away the competition for the top four
Atletico held their own against Betis and a goal from Angel Correa at the end left them far behind in the battle for 3rd place and put them a safe distance away from their Champions League rivals.
Real Sociedad’s defeat has further removed Atlético from top-four competition in La Liga. The victory with 1-0 about Betis opened the gap even further and increased the feeling of security in the “Metropolitan” for the Champions League.
The game was quite spectacular in terms of pace, with the Verdiblancos in control but not performing well in the final. For the Rojiblancos, the right flank of Nauel Molina and Antoine Griezmann stood out, but they didn’t have much of a chance either.
In the second half, the two coaches tried to find the missing goal with their changes, but only one succeeded. First, Jose Jimenez had a goal for Atlético and in the 86th minute Correa made it 1-0 after coming on for Thomas Lemar.

According to the German newspaper “Die Welt”, Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the new Champions League due to violations of Financial Fair Play. However, the Catalans are not aware of the specific risk.
