Xavi: “The worst moment was when I felt like they didn’t believe in me”
Xavi led Barcelona to the top of La Liga, was adored by the Camp Nou crowd and stressed that it was the result of teamwork while withstanding the demands of the harshly judgmental Blaugrana world.
Barcelona failed to create the double but returned to the top of La Liga after a four-year absence. After the game against Real Sociedad, where the trophy was awarded, there was a very festive atmosphere at Camp Nou.
After the end of the party, Xavi stressed that the success of the Blaugrana was not only thanks to him, but that it was a team effort in which the support of the people played a big part.
The Catalan manager opened up about the difficult times he went through during the season, saying the worst was when he felt he didn’t have the support.
“It is a day of celebration and joy. I thank the President, the staff, the players and the fans. The fans are spectacular. It’s very good for Barcelona that they are united.”
It’s unfair to say Xavi’s championship because it’s a team effort. The worst moment is when you feel like they don’t believe in you.
The environment in Barcelona is very difficult at times and you get the feeling that when things are going well, they are not happy. Getting things organized and having four midfielders was one of the keys to the season.
Everyone celebrated the title as a team today. No one stands out and is above no one. “Everyone appears in the photo as a champion”, Xavi said and continued:
“I’m surprised they didn’t pick him Araujo in the best XI in La Liga for this season. He gave us a lot. He is a leader and a wonderful person. It always adds up. He is team and detail conscious. He’s a legend, the best defensive midfielder I’ve ever seen.
