Valencia – Real: Vinicius’ fight with Mamardashvili – Duro and the racist attacks from the fans
Vinicius and Giorgi Mamardashvili clashed, Hugo Duro intervened and the final of Valencia’s game against Real was in turmoil.
Valencia’s clash with Real was episodic and featured an intense finale with Vinicius at its heart. The Brazilian striker was sent off in added time after a brawl also involving Fledermaus players (the hosts eventually won 1-0).
The episode at the end started with a hard foul from Vinicius, where Giorgi Mamardashvili ran up to him and demanded that he speak. Antonio Riediger tried to stop Valencia’s Georgia goalkeeper and Hugo Duro caught Vinicius in a headlock and pulled him away from his team-mate.
The rest of the players rushed to the spot to separate Mamardashvili and Vinicius. But when they did, Duro still had the Brazil Real forward in a headlock from behind, who turned and punched him in the face.
Asked to check the phase via VIDEO after being informed by VAR, the referee gave Vinicius a red card for hitting the opponent.

However, the 22-year-old international was in the spotlight from the start of the game. As Thibaut Courtois complained, Valencia fans made monkey noises at Vinicius from the 20th minute, calling him both “monkey” and “stupid”.
Vinicius himself was posted via Instagram story shortly after the game ended. “The prize the racists won was my expulsion. This is not football, this is La Liga.” He wrote a story on a black background.
Valencia convicted
Valencia issued a statement after the game condemning the racist behavior of some of their fans and saying they had not expressed it as a club.
“Although it is an isolated case, insults against players of the opposing team have no place in football and do not fit with the values and identity of Valencia. The club is investigating what happened and will take the toughest measures.” is emphasized in the announcement, among other things.

Quique Sanchez Flores’ men failed to threaten against ten opponents and Atlético picked up an important win before half-time.
