In the Champions League, Sociedad and Espanyol were relegated
Sociedad lost away to Atlético but celebrated fourth place and qualification for the Champions League thanks to the defeat against Villarreal. A bitter draw against “Mestalla” for Espanyol that promoted them to the second division.
