UEFA proposal to ban Osasuna from Conference League
Osasuna are banned from participating in European competitions as the UEFA committee responsible has recommended the Spanish side be excluded from the Conference League.
Osasuna had a great season this year. It finished 7th in La Liga and secured a ‘ticket’ to the Conference League playoffs. However, it seems that he will not have the opportunity to participate.
The Pamplona club took UEFA’s decision into their own hands regarding Osasuna’s involvement in a match-fixing case in the 2013-2014 season. A case that, after many postponements and delays, dragged on for years.
The governing body of the European Football Association recommended Osasuna’s exclusion from the Conference League, which shocked the Spanish side.
Osasuna is now set to appeal, with the case moving quickly as the playoff draw takes place on August 3. If the decision goes against the Pamplona team, they will appeal to CAS.
