Athpilicueta signs with Atletico until 2025, leaving Chelsea after 11 years
Atletico Madrid have signed Cesar Athpilicueta from Chelsea on a free transfer. The 33-year-old Spanish full-back has signed with the club until the summer of 2025.
After 11 years, Chelsea’s Cesar Athpilicueta will be a thing of the past. The 33-year-old Spain full-back remains free from the Blues to return to his home country despite the fact that his contract expires in 2024.
Athpilicueta has hit it off with Atlético, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano. The Spain international is expected to sign with the club by the summer of 2025.
Chelsea bought Athpilicueta from Marseille in the summer of 2012 for €8.8m. In the blue jersey he made 508 appearances with 17 goals and 56 assists.
