Laporta: “Messi will get money from Barcelona until 2025”
Laporta gave an interview where he talked about Lionel Messi among other things and made some revelations.
Laporta gave a long interview to “La Vanguardia” and spoke about all topics related to the current situation of Barcelona.
Lionel Messi is always among them. The Argentine superstar ultimately didn’t return to Barcelona and decided to continue his career at Inter Miami.
Laporta was asked about the club’s relationship with Lionel Messi, but also the reasons that ultimately led him to accept the Americans’ offer.
“Messi had signed an agreement with the previous management for the payment of his contract and his deferred wages. In particular, there are outstanding payments to him that will be completed in 2025 and will be settled regularly.” he answered first.
He then referred to the fact of Messi’s decision and revealed: “We had an agreement with LaLiga that we would devote part of our resources to Messi. We shared it with Jorge Messi. He told me that Leo had a very difficult year in Paris and that he wanted less pressure. If he came to us he would keep pushing and I understood his decision.”.
Finally, he hinted at his desire to have Messi at the Camp Nou during the club’s 125-year celebrations in November 2024, while revealing that Barcelona are preparing a tribute to the Argentine.
“I want to wish him the best of luck and for our part we are beginning to prepare a huge tribute to him. It would be ideal to coincide with the conclusion of 125 years of history.” and with a return to Camp Nou that would be perfect.” he said characteristically.
