Nico Williams became Barcelona’s first target from the ‘free’ pool
Barcelona are already thinking about next season and much-needed reinforcements next summer, with Nico Williams, who is in the final year of his contract at Athletic, at the top of the transfer list.
The transfer window is closed in most European leagues, but there are a number of teams making their plans for a year later and Barcelona also falls into that category.
According to a report from Sport, the Catalans are now examining cases of players who are free transfers in the summer of 2024 and have the momentum to carry the burden of their shirt, with the case of Nico Williams standing out.
The 21-year-old winger has made a strong start in this year’s La Liga for Athletic (he has provided four assists in as many first games) and the people of “Barca” view him positively as he is a free transfer in a year with the player is considered, along with 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, the “tomorrow” of the Spanish national team.
The Catalan media report that initial contacts have already been made with Nico Williams’ representative, Felix Taida, in order to understand the player’s “wishes” and lay the foundation for possible future collaboration.
