Barcelona 0-1 Cadiz: Historic triumph for the Andalusians at Camp Nou

Following their European defeat at Eintracht, Barcelona suffered a second series of home shocks, Cadiz celebrating a thumping 1-0 win with a golden goal from Perez and conquering the ‘Camp Nou’ for the first time in their history.

Unbelievable yet perfectly true, from the magical La Liga. Barcelona went down in the home game against Cadiz with the air of 7 straight league wins and a 15-game unbeaten streak (their last loss in early December against Betis) to maintain impressions of exclusion from the 8 Europa League of Eintracht, however the finale found Cadiz making history.

The Andalusians not only faced off against Xavi’s team but also achieved a superb 1-0 win with a golden goal from Lucas Perez that allowed them to climb out of the relegation zone and even celebrated the first three points of their history as guests at camp noou .

It should be noted that with this defeat, Barcelona were 15 points away from the top, which means that champions Real have the opportunity to mathematically secure the title of champions in the next two games and with four games remaining until the final.

The game

With no ideas or collaboration in their game, Xavi’s players appeared in the first part and this was butter in the bread for Cadiz’s footballers, who were able to defend Lentesma’s home without…suffering.

Barcelona’s best moment of this period was a powerful shot from Dembele in the 38th minute, which was blocked by the Andalusian keeper with a double kick, while the biggest chance belonged to the visitors when Perez fired an amazing from an advantageous position in the 27th minute individual energy of Sobrino from the right, to the left of the right bar of Ter Stegen’s hearth.

The worst came early in the second half for Barcelona and particularly in the 48th minute when Ter Stegen twice prevented his home’s breakthrough on consecutive attempts by Sobrino from high up in the small space, but Lucas Pereth capitalized and sent the ball into the net .

From then until the 65th minute, Cadiz held the score easily, with the game catching fire in the final 20 minutes as both teams had chances to score. Barcelona managed several finals but those who went home stopped on the Cerberus Lentesma, culminating in his two impressive interventions in shots from Garcia and Obamayang in the last ten minutes.

On the other side, the Catalans’ backs were exposed and Cadiz had many opportunities to expose them even more, but either by failure (76′ Fernandez from an ideal position) or by… Ter Stegen (saved in 79′ Sobrino’s shot) or bad luck (latte in the 89th minute when Alejo crossed) didn’t score a second goal.

Nonetheless, the Andalusians celebrated a historic win (their first at the Camp Nou) after the referee’s final whistle that left them optimistic about the immediate future from the moment they unexpectedly climbed above the dangerous three-point zone.

Real Madrid have 20-year-old Robert Renan on their shortlist for central defense

Real Madrid have suffered a major blow to their central defense due to injuries and one of the things they have on their list ahead of January is the loan of 20-year-old Brazilian central defender Robert Renan from Zenit.

After the serious injuries to David Alaba and Ender Militao, Real Madrid have entered the transfer market to sign a central defender.

One of the cases that the Merengues are considering, according to AS, is 20-year-old Brazilian central defender Robert Renan, who plays for Zenit St. Petersburg. Madrid initially wants to bring him in with a loan and a purchase option for next summer.

The young footballer is exactly the right person to strengthen the Merengues as he is left-footed and can develop into a very good footballer. This particular formula would also satisfy Zenit, but there is a non-football problem.

Groups linked to the Russian state continue to face sanctions from the European Union (and the US) over the military invasion of Ukraine. Specifically, teams cannot receive an amount over 108,000 euros.

Zenit is owned by Gazprom, one of the most famous oil companies (in the world) controlled by the Russian state.

Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the new Champions League because of FFP

According to the German newspaper “Die Welt”, Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the new Champions League due to violations of Financial Fair Play. However, the Catalans are not aware of the specific risk.

A few hours after the legal recognition before the Court of Justice of the European Union of the European Super League, a project that Barcelona and Real Madrid have “operated” from the beginning until today, the Blaugrana are in adventure.

A publication by German newspaper Die Welt reports that the Catalans are at risk of being banned from the new Champions League (for up to three years) due to Financial Fair Play violations. Barcelona announced gigantic profits (a whopping 304 million euros), but according to the report, UEFA will audit the finances as the income must only come from “football activities”.

Barcelona reported on its balance sheet revenue from “Barca Studios”, the project that manages the team’s audiovisual material, such as the team’s official channel (Barca TV).

Sources in Barcelona management told Mundo Deportivo that they were unaware of the scenario in question.
