Rayo Vallecano went 23 years without defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real and a 0-0 draw on matchday 12 knocked the Merengues off the top of La Liga.

Victory in the Clasico against Barcelona and away still seems a long way off for Real, who were unable to overcome their resistance Rayo Vagecano in the “Santiago Bernabeu” for the 12th matchday of La Liga and with 0-0 fell from the top of the table, where Girona was left alone.

The “Merengues” were superior throughout the game, but were defeated by their big opponents. The visitors defended almost exclusively and waited for mistakes in the home team’s traffic to create a phase, but this did not happen and so everything was decided by Carlo Ancelotti’s players.

Jude Bellingham wobbled in the shallows, Vinicius was no threat and the 70th-minute substitutions of Rodrigo and Toni Kroos did little to help Real, who could not escape defeat.

Rayo Vallecano managed to leave Real’s home stadium undefeated and stay in European orbit for the first time since March 2000.
