Barcelona: Umtiti is a break, the chances of him leaving are disappearing
Barcelona’s troubled relationship with Samuel Umtiti continues after the hot French centre-back suffered a metatarsal fracture and is unable to walk.
Barcelona have been trying to get rid of him for years Samuel Umit, but the French defender refuses to go, relying on his huge contract which nets him €14,000,000 a year. Now he can’t go even if he wanted to as he was injured and will be out for a few weeks.
The 28-year-old national player suffered a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right leg during training on Monday and will have surgery on Tuesday, the club said.
Umtiti recently extended his contract until the summer of 2026 to make it easier to issue a card to Ferran Torres and make room in the salary cap. The Frenchman cut by 10% the earnings he would receive for the next 1.5 years and that amount will now be collected within 4.5 years if he finally stays at Camp Nou.
