Valencia and Sevilla failed to emerge victorious from their postponed La Liga game at the Mestalla, and the 1-1 draw in favor of Real, who are kept at bay by the Andalusians.

Sevilla had the opportunity to close champions Real’s “gap” in the two points, but Valencia had a different view and drew Sevilla 1–1 in “Mestalla” in a postponed game for La Liga’s 21st game.

The guests started the game stronger, leading in the 7th minute through an own goal by Mukhtar Diacabi, and a little later they had a great chance through Lucas Okambos. As time went on, the home team gained momentum and began to become menacing. In the 44th minute Gonzalo Gentes was justified for his many efforts and equalized with a narrow header. Immediately afterwards, the “Fledermäuse” asked for a one-hand sending off and in the delays of the 1st half tension mounted with a clash with Markos Akounias in the lead.

The second half was supposed to be fiery, but both players slowed down and had fewer good moments than the first half. Juan Jordan was substituted after injuring himself with an object in the cup derby against Betis, causing play to be suspended and restarted the next day and helping the Andalusians gain the upper hand.

However, the chances for Zaume Domenets (replacing the injured Jasper Silesen in the 18th minute) were not enough of a threat. Sevilla also fell short by a player when Jose Luis Gaya was sent off with a second yellow card in the final minutes, missing a huge opportunity to increase the pressure in the title race.
