Xavi once again expressed his faith and optimism for Barcelona’s new project, which will take them back to the glory days, stressing that patience is needed.

Barcelona lost two titles in eight days after being eliminated from the Supercopa on January 12. that Athletic Bilbao defeated it 3-2 and celebrated qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.

The Catalan club is going through one of the worst periods in their history, trailing -17 behind La Liga leaders and champions Real while continuing their European course in the Europa League. After three games without a win against Granada (1-1), Real (2-3) and Athletic (3-2), the “blaugrana” are looking for a three-pointer against Alaves on Sunday (23 January).

For his part, Xavi again recommended patience and perseverance, stressing that if he didn’t believe in the Barcelona project he would go home:I’m still optimistic, otherwise I would go home. We are at the beginning of the project, we must have patience, faith and perseverance. That happened to me as a footballer. At first there were doubts, but he went on.

I know that there are no transition years and that you have to work hard. The sun rises every day. you have to keep going In difficult times you see people and we have to climb together.

The results worry me. A change of coach takes a process and a little more time than expected. More than ever we need to believe in the idea that made Barcelona great, but I’m worried about the results. We need a positive result tomorrow. “We believe in this game model and we will strive for it.”
