Atletico lost by two goals in the first half, but with an incredible surprise in the second half and two goals in the delays, they clinched a 3-2 win over Valencia for La Liga at the “Wanda Metropolitan”.

Atletico came from three games without a win in three different competitions and the game against Valencia was dangerous due to the form of the “bats”. The Spanish champions took the game for granted and almost paid for it, but with incredible excitement and two goals in delay, they clinched the win 3-2 in the “Wanda Metropolitano” for the 22nd game of La Liga.

Atletico got into the league by drawing with Villarreal, being eliminated from Athletic in the Supercopa semifinals and being eliminated from the Real Sociedad Cup. The “bats” didn’t let this barrage of bad psychology get the better of them and made the situation even more difficult with two goals from Younous Musa and Hugo Duro in the first half.

In a week that saw several reports of bad weather and a rupture in the dressing room, the “Rochiblancos” managed to stay upright and launch a long counterattack in the second half. Diego Simeone’s voices took their place, as did his changes. Mateus Kounia came on in the 57th minute and reduced the lead to 64′, Angel Correa came in at half-time and equalized in the 1st minute of the delay.

Atletico had chances (which included several skirmishes and yellow cards, even on the bench) in the second half and were entitled to fall. Eventually she got to 90+3′ with Korea and Kounia working together and Mario Hermoso having risen from his defense to become the hero of the game.
