Lyon 0-1 Paris: Messi led the Parisians to the top

Published

on

Lyon showed a strong comeback but Paris found a way to get away with the three points from ‘Groupe’, with Messi scoring through Neymar’s assist to send Gaultier’s side up +2 from Marseille at the top.

Marseille fell to a 1-1 home draw against Rennes and Paris didn’t forgive them their… blunder. Christophe Gaultier’s side won 1-0 at the “Groupe Stadium” and are now enjoying the solitude of the top with their seventh win in their first eight Ligue 1 games (there is also a draw), leaving Marseille two points behind.

The game-winning goal came very early, only in the 5th minute, and was the result of a dream team effort by the champions after hiding the ball from their opponents. Neymar and Messi ensured that, the Brazilian danced his opponents outside the box and provided the assist, and the Argentine ended the period with a dreamy left-footed shot (0-1).

It was Neymar’s 44th assist in his 100th game in the French league (he has 77 goals) and the fifth time since the start of this season in Ligue 1 that either Neymar or Messi have provided the other with an assist, with Pulga actually providing the 672 goals scored in his career outside of penalties and surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo (671).

After that goal, Paris dominated until the 20th minute, only to see Lyon step up and miss chances with Lacazette and Ekabi to hold Paris’ fragile lead at half-time.

In the second half, the game continued to offer excitement and fear to the fans, with Paris holding the reins but Lyon putting up a resistance with an excellent Thiago Mendes in central defense and an amazing Anthony Lopez in goal.

In her own good moments, however, she failed to find the goal she so desperately sought and the 0-1 seal sealed the players’ efforts, with Paris claiming their sixth consecutive success in all competitions and their 10th win in 11 official games since celebrated the start of the season.

Lionel Messi’s entourage has denied information from an Argentine journalist about the 35-year-old superstar’s safe return to Barcelona in the summer.

The reaction of Lionel Messi’s entourage to an Argentine journalist’s information about his return to Barcelona in the summer of 2023 was immediate.

Gaston Edoul, another journalist from his compatriot who works for TyC Sports, a media outlet with access to the Parisian superstar, claimed that Messi’s entourage refutes reports of his return to the team where he has spent most of his career.

In fact, he states that Veronica Brunati’s information comes from ‘Blaugrana’ and not Messi. He adds that the 35-year-old forward only thinks of Paris’ goals in the Champions League and Argentina’s national team at the World Cup.

Finally, in a tweet, he emphasizes that the French will be very insistent on the renewal of Messi’s contract, with the current agreement expiring on June 30, 2023.
