Marseille 0-1 Monaco: Monaco win, Marseille fear Champions League
Monaco clinched the “Velontrom” win over Marseille and returned to European places in Ligue 1 at a time when Marseille are worried about dropping out of the Champions League.
A Jelson Martins goal was enough to give Monaco a great win 1-0 against Marseille in ‘Velontrom’ for the 27th Ligue 1 game, which upsets the score after the Monegasque returned to the fight for the European ‘ticket’, challenging what Marseille considered safe for the Champions League .
Jorge Sampaoli’s players performed better on the pitch but, with the exception of a performance by Valentin Rosier in the first half, struggled to shape key moments. In fact, they were saved a few inches offside by Jean Lucas.
In the second half, the ball stayed in front of the home side’s feet, but they couldn’t even manage a well-aimed attempt. On the contrary, the visitors had a good moment in the 58th minute, a crossbar and Martins’ goal that gave them the win.
