“Mbappe is not exercising the right to extend his contract with Paris,” writes Equipe
Paris Saint-Germain Kylian Mbappe had signed a contract until the summer of 2024 which allowed the French superstar to exercise an option to extend the contract until 2025 but according to Equipe he has decided against it.
Kylian Mbappe is the man Paris wants to build their footballing future on and that has been made clear by the club’s management’s recent moves, which show intent to part ways with Neymar this summer and make the French world champions powerful – either with or without Lionel Messi.
At the same time, however, there doesn’t seem to be a similar attitude on the part of the player, since both sides have signed a partnership deal until the summer of 2024, however, he himself seems determined not to extend this partnership, although it is already in his hands.
And that’s because the two sides’ agreement means that Mbappe can unilaterally extend his contract with the French champions and let it expire in June 2025, with the Frenchman having leeway until July 31, 2023 but unwilling to report from “Team”.
What could that mean? That he’s not entirely convinced of the club’s plan to sign him for a longer period beyond the two-year deal he teamed up with Nasser Al Khelaifi for in 2022, with said publication underscoring that such a move comes with it Additional pressure is on Paris’ shoulders as Mbappe enters the final year of his contract and Real will come back… more aggressively to grab him.
