Chelsea are new shareholders in Strasbourg
It’s a new day for Strasbourg as Chelsea’s owners have agreed a deal to become new shareholders of the Ligue 1 club.
Chelsea’s owners, led by Todd Boley, want to build a network of teams, with the Blues at its heart, of course. That’s why they expanded to France.
In particular, the BlueCo consortium agreed to become the main shareholder of Strasbourg, which competes in Ligue 1. In fact, journalists from the US report that the percentage of Chelsea owners reaches 100%.
The team’s new ownership will not involve any changes in senior management, with Mark Keller, who has been chairman since 2012, retaining his role.
“The aim is to make Strasbourg even more competitive in a footballing world that has changed, particularly with the entry of foreign investors into many French clubs and the development of Ligue 1.” said Mark Keller.
As part of the club takeover, the Strasbourg stadium will be renovated.
