Paris have activated Xavi Simmons’ buyback clause and are bringing him back from Eindhoven but may not keep him.

THE Xavi Simmons finished this season alongside Tasos Duvikas on the Eredivisie top scorers list but won’t stay in Eindhoven. Paris have activated the €6,000,000 buyback clause and now only the paperwork remains to complete the transfer.

The Dutch announced on Sunday midday that the 20-year-old forward has withdrawn from the team’s preparations for a move to the French side and is expected to make the move next week, which may not be the last.

The French champions would love to have Simmons in their squad if one of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar leaves, with the result that there will be a spot in the starting XI. It is believed that was the deal he struck with the Netherlands international, who left the club as a free agent in the summer of 2022 to find minutes of play.

The buyback clause could not be activated unless Simmons gave his consent, who would not return to Parc des Princes as a substitute. If there’s no vacancy in the squad, Simmons is loaned out with Leipzig considered favourites, albeit without a whereabouts clause.
