After Fabio Grosso’s injury before the start of the Marseille-Lyon match and the postponement of the match, Lyon, citing the safety of its players, requested to compete not in the “Velodrome” but in a neutral venue.

Marseille’s clash with Lyon on matchday 10 of Ligue 1 was eagerly awaited by fans in France on Sunday evening, but it never came to pass as the black and white round goddess was left to the wild desires of hooligans.

The reason for the incidents that occurred before the planned cross was that Marseille fans threw stones at the coach of the “thugs”, as a result of which the team’s coach Fabio Grosso was injured and the game was also postponed.

It now remains to be seen when and where it will take place, with Lyon general manager Vincent Ponsot revealing Lyons’ desire to play at a neutral venue for safety reasons:

“At the moment the security conditions for the game in Marseille are not met. Therefore we have to play on neutral ground.”

We want to play, it’s not the Marseille players’ fault. Just as it was not our players’ fault when a bottle was thrown at the Groupama Stadium (including the one aimed at Dimitri Paget in November 2021) and they were punished in a sporting context.” emphasized Ponsot, adding:

“We want to ensure the safety of the players. The players are only on the field to play football and not to get cement on their heads.”
