Saint-Etienne – Monaco 1-4: Episode win with an hour stoppage for flares
Monaco clinched a win that puts it on track for the Champions League at St Etienne headquarters in an episodic game that was suspended for more than an hour due to flare-ups from the home side.
Monaco were superior on the pitch, did their duty and beat me 4-1 from Saint Etienne at “Zofroua Gissar” for the 34th game of Ligue 1, in a game marked by what happened off the pitch.
In the 2. nd half, the home team, without any (even formal) reason, organized the show organized from the horseshoe with flares that they gave off throughout the game. In the 67th minute, the referee stopped the game and the organizer threw several of them onto the field.
The two teams were led to the dressing room and for about 70 minutes the Friends of St Etienne threw a party in the stands (Green Arrow also celebrated its 30th anniversary).
Since there was no invasion in the end, it was decided to continue the fight. Myron Boadou added to goals from Wissam Ben Genter, Kevin Holland and Timote Kolojiejsak’s own goal (reduced by Wahbi Kazri on penalties) and Monaco clinched the win that ‘crowned’ them into the Champions League below the relegation zone.
