Marseille fan jailed and banned from stadiums over Lyon incidents
The Marseille fan involved in incidents before the game against Lyon has been sentenced to prison and banned from the stadium.
Thomas S. was found guilty by a court in Marseille for his involvement in the incidents before the postponed game against Lyon at the Velodrome.
The 22-year-old’s trial was originally scheduled for October 31, but was postponed to Thursday. The verdict was a four-month suspended sentence and a three-year stadium ban.
Thomas S. has held a Marseille season ticket for ten years and was arrested for such offenses for the first time.
He claims he received a stone on the leg from Lyon fans on the evening of October 29, picked it up and threw it back without hitting anyone.
During his confession, he admitted his crime and was remanded in custody pending trial.
It is noted that Lyon coach Fabio Grosso suffered an eye injury as a result of the incidents.
