Fabio Grosso’s adventure on the Lyon bench came to a bad end. The ‘Equipe’ revealed his outburst of anger against the players the day after the defeat against Lille, which was his swansong in Lyon.

Fabio Grosso was approached on September 18 to replace Laurent Blanc as coach and get Lyon back on track, but that never materialized as the Italian coach only spent seven games on the bench before being sacked, resulting in 1 Win and 2 led draw and 4 defeats.

The latter, a 2-0 home defeat to Lille, proved fatal for Grosso, who took the price not only for poor results on the pitch but also for his poor relationships with the team’s ‘heavyweights’, such as leaders Lacazette and, paid Taliafico and Cerki.

In fact, according to a revealing report from Equipe, Grosso had made “noise” in the dressing room after the loss to Lille and the day before he walked out the exit door, sending a clear message to his players.

“If you think I’m the problem, tell Textor (Lyon’s current owner) to fire me.

But first you should have the guts to say it to my face. I just ask you to tell me first.Grosso is said to have said in his final outburst before being made a thing of the past from Ligue 1 traffic jams.

It is noted that during his time on the Lyon bench, Grosso also experienced the tragic event that occurred before Lyon’s game at the “Velodrome” against Marseille: home fans threw stones at his team’s coach, provoking him as well an injury risk of losing his eye.
