Monaco – Angers 2: 0: The Monegasque are chasing the plate
Monaco beat Angers 2-0 in the Principality to stay a point behind third-placed Wren in Ligue 1.
Monaco did its duty with a minimum of fuss aggravation. That 2-0 in “Louis de” gave the Monegasque victory for the 35th game of Ligue 1 and they kept a point from 3rd place and the qualifiers of the Champions League.
Philip Cleman’s players could not assert themselves against an opponent who is fighting for relegation. Despite having the ball on their feet longer, they didn’t get their chances until the 42nd minute when they were set up by an Abdoulay Baba own goal.
With the result in their favor and the visitors opening up more, Wissam Ben Genter scored his 21st league goal, setting a career record (one more than last season) and securing victory for Monaco.
