Lille announced Hatem Ben Arfa on Wednesday and have strengthened their squad’s attacking line with a very valuable player.

THAT small became his seventh team Hatem Ben Arfa in his Ligue 1 career. The France midfielder signed and was announced by his home country’s champions on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old former international has been free since the summer he left Bordeaux, although there was an option to extend his partnership for 2021-2022. In the meantime he couldn’t find a team and ended up remaining inactive for the first half of the current season.

Lille becomes the ninth team in his career, which began in Lyon in 2004-2005, followed by Marseille (2008-2010), Newcastle (2010-2014), Hull (2014-2015), Nis (2015-2016), Paris (2017- 2018), Rennes (2018-2019), Valladolid (2019-2020) and Bordeaux (2020-2021).

Only Tuafilu Maulinda, Gregory Pezl and Alou Diarra have competed for seven teams in this category in the 21st century.

Ben Arfa is set to replace Yusuf Yazidzi, on loan at CSKA Moscow until the end of the season, with the Russians having a release clause should they be happy with the Turkish midfielder.
