Damn Zoffroy Gissard, angry St Etienne fans shower after descent
St Etienne fans stormed the pitch after losing to Auxerre on penalties, with smoke and flares throwing (and) fire at the stadium seats.
The players of St Etienne and Auxerre experienced moments of shock after the game between them ended and the Crowns were relegated as the home team’s fans stormed the field in anger and caused chaos. Some of the stands on the podium were burned by the smoke and the flares they threw, RMC reported.
According to French media, the panicked players of both teams ran straight to the dressing room to escape from the rest of Saint Etienne fans. The situation got out of control, people wanted to break out and the players were defenseless. Police forces entered the field to stop them with tear gas.
This was another of the many scenes we’ve seen at French stadiums this season, and last but not least, a recurring coincidence ceases to be a coincidence. The hooligans are enforcing their rules and ‘Zofroua Gissar’ saw one of the wildest scenes we’ve seen in Ligue 1 in recent years. Punishing the hosts is a given.
