Nottingham reached an agreement with Lance to sell Samba
Brice Saba has said goodbye to England and is set for a new footballing adventure in Ligue 1, with Nottingham announcing his deal with Lance for the 28-year-old Congolese goalkeeper.
Nottingham went overboard last season when they booked promotion to the Premier League after a 23-year absence and one of the pillars of that effort for Steve Cooper’s side was Brice Saba.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper was acquired from Caen in 2019 and made 125 appearances for the Reds in all competitions over the following three years, only to appear in 45 games last year and make history with his epic performance in the semi-finals of the promotion play-offs, when he saved three penalties in the game against Sheffield United.
Not long after that great game, Forest said goodbye to him. The Congolese goalkeeper accepted an offer from Lance to continue his career in Ligue 1 and the Premier League newcomer revealed on Tuesday (5/7) how he had reached an agreement with the lanchois for his concession.
As the French team announced in a statement, his agreement with Saba is for five years, during which he bid farewell to the people of Nottingham, including writing on Twitter:
“To the fans, the partners, my coaches, the coaching staff and everyone at the club. Everyone I met and helped me during my time here. Many Thanks.
I will keep all these memories in my heart. I have never experienced this. Forest forever”.
As for the cost of the 28-year-old goalkeeper’s move to France, Nottingham are expected to rake in €5m, according to a report by Equipe.
