Riediger does not renew with Chelsea, he said ‘no’ to 235,000 euros a week
Chelsea failed to persuade Antonio Riediger to renew his contract, with the German defender turning down the ‘Blues’ new offer of €235,000 a week, according to Sportsmail.
Antonio Riediger’s future at Chelsea, whose contract expires next summer, remains uncertain. However, the London club want to ensure the 28-year-old stays at Stamford Bridge after the end of the season.
Riediger, who is currently paid around €118,000 a week, had turned down the team’s original offer, which was reportedly €165,000. Both sides are in negotiations, but the golden ratio does not seem to have been found yet, with the economic side being the “thorn” for an agreement.
According to Sportsmail, the Londoners also made a new proposal with increased financial earnings to the German international. Special, Riediger unofficially offered a new deal worth €235,000 a week. But even that wasn’t enough to convince the centre-back to extend his contract.
However, Communications remain open between the two sides and Chelsea are optimistic they can reach an agreement to keep their defender.
