Guardiola on Klopp’s statement that Liverpool City won’t reach: ‘I don’t believe him’
Pep Guardiola has said he doubts Jurgen Klopp’s view of Liverpool’s inability to reach the top of the table for Manchester City and made it clear that anything can happen in football.
Liverpool fell to -9 on champions Manchester City after their last three wins and even had a game fewer. However, Jurgen Klopp argued that the Reds have no chance of catching the Citizens at the top of the Premier League.
At the same time, however, Pep Guardiola went against the conviction of the German coach and, when asked about his statement, stated that he did not believe him. The Spaniard made it clear that everything is open in football, which Klopp is well aware of.
“I’m not sure if we can reach them‘ the German posed after beating Leicester on Thursday (10/2 and continued: ‘We don’t have a chance to catch them, but that doesn’t mean we won’t try to make the most of the season for ourselves.“.
When asked about Klopp’s comments regarding the game against Norwich on Saturday (2 December), Guardiola emphasized: “I do not believe him. It’s absolutely possible and thinks the same way (Klopp), otherwise he wouldn’t be the competitor he is.
Of course he believes in it. Anything can happen in football. He knows he has to win a lot of games, just like we know we have to win a lot of games to be champions again“.
