Southampton’s unimaginable self-trolling after the climb at Old Trafford
Southampton left Old Trafford in a 1-1 draw a year after an incredible nightmare at Manchester United and didn’t miss the opportunity to commemorate it in imaginative ways.
Southampton have done it again. A few days after fleeing London, where they lost 2-1 to Tottenham in the 70th minute and were eliminated by a 3-2 win over Spurs, the Saints celebrated another important result away from home.
They even managed against Manchester United, although they fell short of Sancho’s goal when Che Adams hit the net in the second half and signed the 1-1, which was particularly celebrated by Ralph Hassenhtutl and his players.
Not only because this point was won against a strong opponent, but also because they had “testified” in this stadium a year and ten days earlier (02.02.21) when they met a racing team that was against the Red Devils 0:9 lost.
This time, however, the script was written differently and Southampton drew the comparison in a particular way via their official Twitter account with the end of the game: “Well, we did a little better than last season”was the astounding comment from the England south side.
