Speaking to the Daily Mail about Wolves’ course this year, Jose Sa recalled his transfer from Olympiakos and how much Vangelis Marinakis had helped him.

Jose Sa has made impressive showings with Wolves in the Premier League this season and speaking to the Daily Mail stressed ‘Wolves’ could win a place in the top four and a ticket to the Champions League.

In fact, the Portuguese keeper has received ‘praise’ from the press in England Athletic in a recent homage to the question in the title of the text if this is Wolves’ transfer of the year.

The former Olympiacos goalkeeper also recalled his journey through our country, alluding to how much Vangelis Marinakis helped him.

“Marinakis was a good man who helped me a lot. After Lamia was eliminated in the cup, a small team of 15 fans came into the dressing room who were crazy, red-eyed and almost crying. They said we should give the honor jersey and more.

“Here (in England) the fans are calmer and they respect you a lot, although at Olympiakos the people loved and supported me even when I was going through a bad phase.”

The 29-year-old then referred to the help of his parents, but also to the words of his father: “My parents supported me all the time, even though as a goalkeeper they had to spend more money on me because you have gloves, shoes and everything else.

My father gave me everything I needed and said: “One day you will give me everything back!”. The seasons were different back then because I had two or three pairs of gloves and two boots a season. “Now I have a big box full of new gloves and I change them every three games.”
