Klopp: “When the driver told me the game was 3-2, I thought City had beaten Tottenham”
Jurgen Klopp admitted that he stopped following the game between Manchester City and Tottenham when the Londoners were 2-1 and that when he was told it had ended 3-2 he initially believed the crowd would would achieve victory.
Last Saturday was ideal for the Liverpool friends after they celebrated a total of six goals and two wins. In the afternoon their team beat Norwich 3-1 at Anfield and a few hours later it was Tottenham’s turn to give them a gift after beating champions Manchester City 3-2 with a goal from Harry Kane had scored 90+ 5′, allowing the Reds to close the gap to the top and to six points with fewer games.
Impressively though, Jurgen Klopp maintains an Olympic composure and refuses to be swayed by his emotions, with the Reds coach admitting he was unaware of Guardiola’s side’s defeat and in a.. . in a strange way.
“I was on my way home when Tottenham were 2-1 up. When I got home I didn’t sit down to watch the game because I was sure they would equalize.
Then I saw the excited driver. “When he told me it ended 3-2, I thought City had won.”said the German more honestly, who rang his risk bell for the postponed game against Leeds that his team will play on Wednesday night and who will have the opportunity to reduce the gap to the top to 3 points:
“Leeds have lost some crucial players: Bamford, Phillips, Cooper who are their backbone and I know those losses can hurt a team. But I expect the same behavior from them.
If we’re not ready for the game, they’ll eat you. “Leeds players are scoring all over the pitch and are first in three main Premier League statistical categories.”
