Commenting on Pep Guardiola’s statement that “Liverpool are a pain in the ass”, Jurgen Klopp argued his team should be “painful” even if they find the right opportunity to overtake Manchester City.

On Wednesday evening against Leeds (February 23, 9:45 p.m., COSMOTE SPORT 5 HD and LIVE from Sportish), Liverpool have the opportunity to reduce the gap to champions Manchester City by three points. The Reds used the Citizens’ Gel against Tottenham (2-3) in the previous Premier League game and made up ground in the title fight.

Pep Guardiola recently claimed in his statements that Liverpool are his team’s toughest opponents and described it as a ‘backache’. In the press conference on Tuesday (February 22), Jürgen Klopp commented on the statements made by the Spanish coach and emphasized that that is exactly what his team wanted, namely to “annoy”.

“We have to win all our games. We’re waiting for City to win theirs. It often happens that they win almost all of their games. It’s important to us to be close to the top – whoever is at the top.

We push each other and not just ourselves – don’t forget the other teams: Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Tottenham. You shouldn’t back down because then another team will catch you.

Pep said we had pain in her buttocks. That’s a good description. And that’s the way we have to be. We try to be as annoying as possible until we have a chance to overtake. You have to be close enough to the key moments of the season. “We have to be as good as possible.”
