British sanctions against Russia include banning Aeroflor, one of Manchester United’s main sponsors, from operating in the country for a decade, causing problems for the ‘Red Devils’.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, announced that he would use the planes of the Russian state-owned company Aeroflot are not allowed to land in the country in connection with the sanctions for the invasion of Ukraine, which causes a serious problem at Manchester United.

The “red devils” have had a sponsorship deal with the airline since 2013, which expires in the summer of 2023. Under normal circumstances, the renegotiation of the contract would start this summer, but the intentions have been thwarted by developments in Ukraine.

Reports in England even speak of an immediate cessation of sponsorship, however, United do not confirm this and the only implication is that there is no decision yet.

The agreement between the two sides does not oblige the club to fly Aeroflot on its off-site commitments, but has done so on a number of occasions in the past as the Russian company operates a line with 146 destinations in 52 countries. The tension of the past few days led to the club’s decision to fly with Titan to Madrid for the Champions League round of 16 clash against Atlético.
