‘Bombshell’ from Abramovich: ‘I’m handing over management of Chelsea to the team’s charity’
Roman Abramovich dropped a megaton bombshell on Chelsea when he personally announced he was leaving the management of the European champions to the team’s charity.
Chelsea are turning a page in their history after 19 full years at the helm in absolute command, Roman Abramovich decided to hand over the running of the Londoners to the board of the team’s charity.
The Russian tycoon made this clear through his personal statement posted on the Blues’ official account, which reads:
“Throughout my nearly 20 years at Chelsea I have always considered my role as custodian of a club whose job is to ensure we are as successful as possible today and to build for the future whilst playing a positive role in the communities US.
I have always made decisions in the interest of the club. I remain committed to these values. That’s why I’m handing over the leadership and supervision of Chelsea management to Chelsea today.
I believe they are in the best position to look after the interests of the club, the players, the staff and the fans at the moment.
It is noted that Abramovich’s decision comes a few days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, when several members of the British Parliament have gone public in the last 24 hours raising questions about whether the Russian croissant now has an equity relationship with Chelsea can. and massively pushing for its unlocking.
