Roman Abramovich is discussing the sale of Chelsea, according to a Telegraph article, while there are already three potential buyers for the European champions.

Roman Abramovich is set to accept offers to sell Chelsea within the week, according to an exclusive report by the Telegraph.

At least three prospects are interested in the European champions, with the Russian owner ready to talk about selling the club for the first time.

The proposals are due to reach Abramovich by the end of the week, and sanctions are looming over the Russian. Chelsea have argued it’s not for sale but the climate has changed.

Rumors of an account freeze and confiscation of Abramovich’s assets have increased, and according to the Telegraph, there’s a sense that Abramovich may have little choice.

The Russian has previously turned down bids of 2.5 billion for Chelsea while the club’s debt to him exceeds 1.5 billion, an amount that the Blues’ next owner will surely want to repay.

A major potential obstacle to Chelsea’s sale would be the imposition of sanctions on Abramovich. In that case, those interested in the European champions will have to wait and see if a deal with the Russian and his allies is possible.

Let’s say, of course, that the climate at Chelsea isn’t the best it can be, and that was seen earlier when Tuhel lost his temper and erupted after persistent questions from journalists about the Russian invasion and Abramovich.
