Nottingham 2-2 Everton: Johnson kept Rangers above and Candies below the danger zone

Everton twice took the lead at the City Ground but Nottingham found as many replies as Johnson, with a 2-2 draw leaving the Reds four clear of the relegation zone and inside the bottom three of the table.

Nottingham Forest took part in a thrilling survival bra-de-fer against Everton at the City Ground in the 26th round of the Premier League, with neither team winning the final (2-2) but Nottingham clearly winning.

That’s because Shaun Dyce’s side led twice with goals from Gray and Ducouret, but were unable to secure their first away win in the league after eight unsuccessful attempts, with Gary Cooper’s side scoring twice Brennan Johnson scored to take a golden point that took them four points clear of 18th-placed Liverpool Blues.

The match

Everton won the match, which had the character of a… six-point game, and just 10 minutes later they opened the scoring when Gray put the ball in the net after McNeill won a penalty from Selwick and defeated Navas. Nottingham’s reaction was immediate and converted into a goal in the 19th minute. Gibbs-White combined with Wood to drive home a powerful shot from outside the box, Pickford made a shaky save and Johnson grabbed the rebound to make it 1-1.

The excitement continued in the first half as Everton scored a second goal. After charging into the Reds’ box, Keane fed Ducouret with a header and he headed the ball into the net again to level the score at 2-1 with his first goal since September 2021.

With that result, the two sides went into the dressing room for the break, with the second half marked by many nerves and tensions between the players until the 60th minute, with Nottingham then gaining yards to equalize through Johnson in the 77th minute , who, assisted by Yates, executed Pickford with an elusive left-footed shot from the area.

It was the England striker’s seventh Premier League goal of the season (third-best U21 player overall, behind Martinelli with 11 goals and Saka with 10) as the 2-2 draw went into the final and Nottingham clinched a golden point keeping the +4 that separates them from the relegation zone and Everton.
