Henderson: ‘It hurt us to see United win the League Cup’
Jordan Henderson insisted Liverpool regain the energy they needed to progress to a 7-0 win over United while admitting the Red Devils’ League Cup triumph was something that hurt the Reds.
On February 21, Anfield spectators received a very strong shock after watching Liverpool take a 2-0 lead against Real but then conceded five goals (in the first game between the two teams for the ” 16″ of the Champions League). and know their heaviest European home defeat, but on Sunday evening (05.03.) they saw a completely different project.
Against Manchester United, the mother of all struggles, Jurgen Klopp’s side ran with … a thousand memories of the ensemble that the footballing world has admired in previous seasons and drove to a historic 7-0 triumph, with Jordan Henderson revealing that this was extra motivation for He and his teammates were a Red Devils match seven days earlier.
That against Newcastle, who won 2-0 at Wembley to lift the League Cup and end a six-year drought, with the Liverpool captain claiming the Reds’ men were injured by their arch-rivals’ success.
“It was a fantastic day for everyone. All players showed a high performance. We all found the energy back that we had before. Henderson first explained to add meaningfully:
“United have been playing particularly well lately, it hurt us a bit to see them win a trophy. For us it was about playing at the level we are capable of.”
