Arsenal open talks with Bournemouth hero over new deal
Rhys Nelson gave Arsenal a golden hat-trick by scoring against Bournemouth in the 90+8 minutes and that fact seems capable of keeping him at the Emirates despite his contract expiring next summer.
Rhys Nelson’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of this season but the latest developments show that the most likely scenario is that he will continue to wear the Londoners’ shirt after the summer.
This is reported by the “Daily Mail”, with the English media revealing on Monday (March 6th) that Mikel Arteta’s team hero in the game against Bournemouth with his winning goal in the 90+8 is now on the verge of a contract extension.
The current one expires at the end of the season, the 23-year-old England striker is still in talks with the north London club and the deal is seen as a matter of time as it is a wish of both sides.
It should be noted that against Bournemouth Nelson had his first appearance of 2023 since coming from an injury that left him behind in relation to the rest of the team, with the England winger being in his team’s 5th 0 against Nottingham last October.
A key part of building his special relationship with Arsenal is the fact that he came through the club’s infrastructure departments, with Nelson making his debut in 2017 but looking for something more all those years compared to just 9 of his Premier League appearances.
