English police have arrested the Liverpool fan who took the pitch after Firmino’s goal against United and sprinted to celebrate with the Reds players.

Liverpool sent millions of fans around the world into the sky after a record-breaking 7-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday evening (03/05), but a friend of theirs crossed the red line in the celebrations.

It was he who burst onto the pitch to celebrate with the players after Roberto Firmino’s goal that made history in the derby between the two sides, which enraged Jurgen Klopp.

Of course, he couldn’t escape the clutches of the law as Merseyside Police cracked down on him and announced his arrest on Monday:

“A 16-year-old boy was arrested after Liverpool played Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

A fan was sighted on the field during the game and police later arrested a 16-year-old boy from Winsford on suspicion of trespassing

He is said to have volunteered to go to a Merseyside police station in connection with the incident. Our officers are already working with Liverpool regarding the incident.” according to the police statement.

It is recalled that a statement was also issued by Liverpool during the day, in which the Reds clarified their position on the incident, stating among other things:

If the perpetrator of trespassing is found guilty, the perpetrator could face a criminal record and a life ban from Anfield and all Premier League grounds. These actions are dangerous, illegal and have serious consequences.”
