Arteta stressed that Sakas’ missed penalty in the EURO final was good for the young Arsenal player’s career as it showed him that there are people who stand by him in difficult times.

England lost to Italy on penalties in the final of the European Championship this summer. Bukayo Saka, along with Marcus Rasford and Jaydon Sanson, found no nets.

Referring to the event, Mikel Arteta explained how that missed penalty had a positive impact on Sakas’ career: “I think Bukayo had an experience in the summer that few players will have. It was great for his career because the football world showed how much they love him and how much they respect him.

It was a huge boost for him to understand that when times are tough, there are people who support him and the club does the same as his team-mates. We have to give him space, what he’s doing is great. “Don’t read so much and do what he does.”

Saka has made 30 appearances in all competitions with the Arsenal shirt this season. He has scored nine goals and provided five assists.
