Klopp for Guardiola: “I know what pep means, we’ve been pushing each other for years”
Responding to Pep Guardiola’s comment that Manchester City were their most difficult opponent, Jurgen Klopp stressed that he knows the Spanish coach’s potential very well.
After beating Manchester United (4-1), Manchester City were six points behind second-placed Liverpool, although the Red Devils obviously had a game in hand. Pep Guardiola claimed Jurgen Klopp’s side are the most difficult opponents he has ever faced.
In fact, when asked about his colleague’s comment, the German coach stressed that he reciprocated his belief. That said, the 54-year-old praised Guardiola’s skills as a coach and claimed they put pressure on each other.
“Yes, I can return his comment. City are tough opponents and I’ve met them at Bayern, which wasn’t easy. I know what pep means. We’ve been pushing each other for the past few years.
I’ve already said City would have been champions in recent years since February if we weren’t here. “And if City wasn’t here, we could have been.”said Klopp characteristically.
