Chelsea: The shirt’s sponsor suspended the agreement and asked for his mark to be removed
The Chelsea kit sponsor there demanded the removal of its logo and suspended the sponsorship until further notice due to the sanctions against Roman Abramovich, which also affect the club.
Mobile phone company Three has asked Chelsea to remove its logo from both the jersey and parts of the ‘Stamford Bridge’ where it is the main sponsor.
The decision was taken with no specific timetable following the announcement of British sanctions against Roman Abramovich and his British assets.
“Following recent announcements of sanctions, we have asked Chelsea to temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club, including removing our branding from their shirts and in the stadium until further notice.” said a company spokesman.
“We are aware that this decision will affect many of Chelsea’s friends who are passionate about the team, but we believe it is the right thing to do given the circumstances and the government sanctions in place.”
The company launched its sponsorship partnership with Chelsea in the 2020-2021 season and initially lasted for three years with prospects of expansion. According to the English press, the “Blues” received 48,000,000 euros annually from this agreement.
