Rasford on gesture allegations: “I’ve been threatened for a week, I’m a human being”
Marcus Rasford broke out in a post about the “fire” he’s receiving after video showing him gesturing at a Manchester United fan following Atletico’s ban and claiming he’s been receiving threats for a week.
Manchester United failed to progress in the Champions League as Lodi’s goal on Tuesday night (15/3) propelled Atletico into the 8th round of the tournament.
The reactions of the Red Devils fans were strong, with some cheering the players and waiting for them outside the stadium as they left Old Trafford.
In fact, Marcus is pictured in a video posted to social media Rasford, who according to some fans’ comments appeared to walk up to them and after speaking to a security guard made hand gestures and then left.
The 24-year-old Englishman responded after being devastated by the video in question by posting on Twitter, claiming he was being provoked into a reaction, while also revealing he had received threats in recent days.
“A video can say more than a thousand words and in this case lead to inaccurate information being shared on social media. Children have been harassing me, threatening me, criticizing me for weeks and last night my emotions were overwhelming. i am human
Reading and hearing these things about yourself every day is tiring. Nobody is more strict about my performance than I am. But what you see in this video is taken out of context.
They bothered me from the moment I got off, they insulted me, and not just with the soccer goal. People expected a reaction from me. The phones were ready. Of course I should have gone straight and ignored it, should we be doing this right?“, characteristically wrote in his post.
